Bibliographic Description
Octavo, 9¼ inches. Full contemporary legal leather, gilt-lettered red and black morocco spine labels. Vol. I: 417pp. Vol. II: 657pp.
Condition
Surface wear and scuffing to leather throughout; dark spotting to spines, extending partially onto boards. Spines fragile with some flaking. Vol. I: front hinge just starting; previous owner's spine label partially damaged. Vol. II: front hinge cracked but holding; black spine label with small chip loss. Both volumes carry two early ownership inscriptions to the front pastedown, one in ink dated 1889 matching the spine labels, plus a later ink ownership stamp of a Casper, Wyoming attorney (with additional instance of this stamp in the text margin of Vol. I). Title pages and text clean and bright, free of foxing throughout. Very Good.
Contents
Volume I's earliest reported decisions dating to 1855 — a period when Utah Territory's western judicial districts encompassed most of present-day Nevada prior to the 1861 creation of Nevada Territory, making these volumes of interest to researchers of pre-statehood Nevada legal history as well as Mormon legal and institutional history.
